ILLIUM Alloy8 is a product of the company Stainless Foundry & Engineering,Inc, USA.
The alloy is a corrosion and bite resistantance nickel-based alloy material specifically used for rotor volume pumps, the corresponding standard is ASTMA494 Grade CY5SnBiM (UNS N26055), and this material is listed in the 3-A hygiene standard as an acceptable surface contact material. Good corrosion resistance makes the alloy widely used in a variety of chemical media environments, and ILLIUM 8 has excellent anti-bite property, ILLIUM 8 also has a good processing performance. However, the defect of this alloy is no welding.
The Corrosion resistance, bite resistance and no wear properties make ILLIUM 8 to be a good material for stainless steel volume pumps.

Typical applications:
Rotors, shells and impeller that required to contact with food, such as food pumps, scraper, shafts, bushes, mixing parts, meat grinder, dairy, pharmaceuticals, etc
Processing performance
ILLIUM 8 alloy is soft; smaller processing chips.It has poor heat dissipation capacity and wears out the tool materials very quickly. Its processing characteristics are similar to cast iron: blade wear-out is the main way of tool failure. The difference between cast iron is that makes the tool wear faster, the surface processing should be lower than cast iron of similar hardness.
Welding performance
The Alloys cannot be welded, but can be welded in silver.
Heat treatment
ILLIUM8 alloys cannot be heat treated. It is used in the casting condition.
The ILLIUM8 corrosion resistance is similar to AISI300 series stainless steel. However, ILLIUM8 has limited tolerance to the certain corrosive chemicals commonly used to contact 300 series stainless steel. Do not use ILLIUM8 materials in nitric acid environments.
