Galfenolis a new type of magnetostrictive material, the main elements are Fe and Ga,this alloy is called Gafenol because it was developed by Naval Ordnance Laboratory (NOL).

Galfenol was Published in 1999, that filled the gap between traditional ferro-nickel magnetostrictive material and Terfenol-D, Galfenol with excellent stress sensitivity, mechanical and magnetostrictive properties that not available by other intelligent materials.

 

Galfenol alloy has good mechanical toughness, small fragility, good ductility, large tensile strength, processing ability, can be rolled into thin strip, pulled into wire, etc.

 

Galfenol has good temperature characteristics, low saturation magnetization field and high magnetostrictive strain, high magnetic conductivity, high Curie temperature characteristics, the alloy can be widely used in sensing, precision, displacement measurement, transducer, brake and other fields.
